Our Story
Finding Inspiration in EACH OTHER
After more than 30 years, 65 former Queen's College students connected on a WhatsApp chat group to reminisce. Within a few days we had exchanged thousands of messages about the amazing childhood we enjoyed at QC, strong friendships and the many sacrifices our parents made to ensure we had a first rate education. Today, we are spread all over the world and doing well, thanks in large part to our Guyanese roots and the solid foundation it provided.
Conversation soon turned to the realization that the majority of us now reside outside of Guyana and contribute our talents outside our motherland.
This lead us to discuss how much need there was back home and how we could help. A sub-group was formed and within 2 days, we coordinated a donation to help a young lady in Guyana with her medicine.
It was a great moment and someone said “we should make this an ongoing thing”……a few weeks later, Diaspora Auxilium (Guyana) was fully incorporated.
Auxilium is the Latin word for “help” or “aid”; our name reflects our calling ….the Diaspora helping and giving back to the land that gave us so much.
